Title The Importance of Social Distancing During This Time

Here are some helpful social-distancing tips to keep you and your family safe.

The whole world right now is dealing with coronavirus. With the CDC reporting that as many as 25 percent of people with coronavirus are asymptomatic, the best way to prevent the spread of this virus is to practice social distancing. Our Ajax, ON, dentists, Dr. Saeid Jafarpour, Dr. Kevin Kwong and Dr. Azza Elhaddad, want you and your families to stay healthy and safe right now. Here are some do’s and don’ts when it comes to social distancing:

Stay Home Whenever Possible

The best thing you can do right now is to minimize your exposure to others, which means playing it safe and staying inside whenever you can. Yes, you can still go out to get groceries or to go to the pharmacy, but it’s important to recognize when you “need” to go out and when you just “want” to go out. The elderly and those with chronic health problems should stay indoors and turn to online grocery delivery or have neighbors do their shopping for them.

Keep Your Distance

At some point, you will need to stock up on groceries or go outside. While the number of people out and about has drastically decreased, it’s still important to keep your distance. This means standing at least 1.5-meters away from others, whether checking out at the grocery store or picking up dinner for takeaway. The further distance you can place between you and others the better.

Alter Your Workout Routine

Our Ajax, ON, family dentists believe it’s important to do what we can to stay healthy and keep our immune systems strong. Sure, your gym may not be open right now but this doesn’t mean that you can’t still stay fit. While you want to avoid gatherings, there is nothing wrong with taking the family on a bike ride or enjoying a solo hike outdoors in nature if you know how to do it safely. As long as you keep your distance and avoid groups, a little time in nature could be beneficial for the body and the mind.

Schedule Online Play Dates and Family Gatherings

You can still enjoy time with family and friends, it might just look a little different. You may not be able to gather around the dinner table or meet up with other parents on the playground, but you can still schedule online play dates or enjoy dinner with family via Skype, Facetime, or other online platforms. While we need to keep our physical distance from others, this doesn’t mean that we should distance ourselves completely. Let’s stay connected!

While we are all practicing social distancing right now, here at Ajax Dental Centre we also understand that dental emergencies still happen. If they do happen, you want to know that your Ajax, ON, general dentist is able to help. If you are dealing with an urgent dental matter give us a call at (905) 426-8304.
